Kill line
A daily close below $58, which would erase the October gains and much of the post-August rally; a fiscal 2027 ARR outlook cut, after removing Arize's contribution, at the second-quarter report would also break the case.

Dynatrace's growth in new annual recurring revenue (ARR) is speeding up, and the Arize deal puts it in the market for monitoring AI applications. That combination has re-rated the shares. The second-quarter fiscal 2027 report, expected around 4 November 2026, settles whether the growth holds once Arize's margin drag shows up in guidance.
The June quarter was the turn. Dynatrace reported on 5 August 2026 that organic net new ARR grew 41% and new-logo ARR grew more than 160%. Total ARR reached $2,136 million, up 17%. Revenue of $555 million rose 16% and beat the top of the company's guidance. The non-GAAP operating margin was 29%. Management raised its fiscal 2027 revenue and earnings-per-share outlook. It held the constant-currency ARR outlook because of currency headwinds.
The narrative is accelerating. Six brokers raised targets or upgraded the shares between 15 September 2026 and 13 October 2026. The $915 million Arize acquisition closed on 1 October 2026. Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) status followed on 12 October 2026. The adjusted close on 14 October 2026 was $63.58, 2.6% below the 52-week high of $65.25 and up 43.2% over three months. The run leaves less room for a soft print.
Bullish and bearish views on Dynatrace, Inc.
The bull case on Dynatrace, Inc. (DT), in brief: New business is growing faster than revenue. The bear case: Arize reduces fiscal 2027 margins.
Bull case
- New business is growing faster than revenue. Organic net new ARR grew 41% in the quarter to 30 June 2026, against 16% revenue growth, per the company's 5 August 2026 earnings release. Faster bookings now point to faster revenue in later quarters.
- Arize adds AI-agent monitoring and ARR. The deal closed on 1 October 2026 for $915 million in total consideration, about $815 million of it in cash. Dynatrace expects Arize to add about 200 basis points, roughly $40 million, to fiscal 2027 ARR growth.
- The business generates a lot of cash. Adjusted free cash flow was $309 million in the June quarter, a 56% margin, per the 5 August 2026 release. The company guides $610–$615 million for fiscal 2027.
- The company bought stock far below today's price. Dynatrace repurchased 7.1 million shares for $275 million at an average of $38.88 in the June quarter. It said the buyback program continues after Arize.
- Analyst targets sit above the last close. UBS raised its target to $74 on 1 October 2026, RBC to $73 on 12 October 2026 and Barclays to $71 on 13 October 2026. Needham upgraded the shares to Buy with a $68 target on 18 September 2026.
- The federal market opens further. Dynatrace received FedRAMP High "Initial Implementation" status on 12 October 2026, a step toward selling to more US government agencies.
Bear case
- Arize reduces fiscal 2027 margins. The company expects the deal to cut the fiscal 2027 non-GAAP operating margin by about 175 basis points. The current 29.5%–29.75% outlook from 5 August 2026 does not include Arize, so the second-quarter report is likely to lower it.
- Currency is a headwind. On 5 August 2026 Dynatrace quantified an incremental $23 million currency hit to ARR and $19 million to revenue against prior guidance. It kept, rather than raised, its 15%–16% constant-currency ARR outlook.
- The shares already reflect much of the good news. The stock rose 43.2% in three months to the 14 October 2026 close. The relative strength index (RSI) stood at 68.8, close to the 70 level usually read as overbought.
- The valuation leaves little room for error. Gotrade's quote page listed a price-to-sales ratio of 9.0 and a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 124.6 as of 14 October 2026. GAAP operating margin was 13% in the June quarter, against 29% non-GAAP.
Price setup
The adjusted close on 14 October 2026 was $63.58. The 52-week high is $65.25, 2.6% above that close. The shares are up 43.2% over three months, and the 14-day RSI is 68.8. The rally began after the 5 August 2026 report. In the June quarter the company was buying its own stock at an average of $38.88.
Crowding is visible. The price is extended after a steep three-month run, the RSI is near overbought, and a quarterly report falls inside the next three weeks. Ad-hoc news reported a close of $60.74 on 6 October 2026, so early-October trading sits a few dollars below the current price. A move back under the low $60s would undo the October gains. A close under $58 would mean a deeper retreat into the post-August range. Some broker targets are already below the price: BMO and BTIG both set $62 on 15 September 2026.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- ~4 November 2026, est. second-quarter fiscal 2027 report. The date is unconfirmed. Dynatrace reported the same quarter on 5 November 2025 and the June quarter on 5 August 2026, both before the market opened. Company guidance for the quarter is revenue of $565–$570 million and non-GAAP earnings of $0.48–$0.49 per share. The report also brings the first full-year outlook that includes Arize.
- ~22 October 2026, est. earnings-date announcement. In 2025 Dynatrace announced its second-quarter date on 22 October 2025.
What would change the view
The case breaks if new business stops accelerating. One sign would be organic net new ARR growth at the second-quarter report falling well below the 41% printed for the June quarter. A cut to the fiscal 2027 ARR outlook after removing Arize's roughly $40 million contribution would also break it. So would an Arize margin hit materially larger than the 175 basis points the company flagged, which would reopen the margin question.
On price, a daily close below $58 would give back the October gains and much of the post-August rally. That would show the market no longer pays for the re-acceleration. A clean second-quarter beat with an ARR outlook raised beyond the Arize contribution would strengthen the case.
What it trades with
Dynatrace trades with listed AI and enterprise-software names. Datadog is the closest competitor in observability software, which monitors how applications and infrastructure perform. Synopsys, PTC, Shopify and Toast are looser neighbours tied mostly through AI-software sentiment. Interest in the AI-software group cooled through September and picked up again in mid-October, which supports the shares for now. A sector-wide software sell-off, or a weak Datadog quarter, would likely weigh on Dynatrace even if its own results hold. Currency moves matter more here than for most US software peers because of the company's international revenue, as the 5 August 2026 currency adjustments showed.
Notes
- Dynatrace's fiscal year ends 31 March, so its fiscal 2027 runs from April 2026 to March 2027 and quarter labels run ahead of the calendar year.
- Dynatrace reports results before the US market opens, so the share-price reaction comes in the regular session on the report day.
- Company guidance and margins are on a non-GAAP basis; GAAP operating margin was 13% versus 29% non-GAAP in the June 2026 quarter.
