Against its published line

Above its line on the last close.

How to read this

The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 22 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.

Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.

Kill line

A daily close below $1.90, Goldman Sachs's Sell-rated ADR target from June 2026, which would undo much of the rally since July; or December-quarter revenue below the guided $2,571 million low end.

Not a pickResearch coverage at low conviction. A medium-or-higher call would open a pick on the scoreboard.

The thesis

Wipro's shares have run ahead of its business: revenue was flat in constant currency in the September 2026 quarter, and the company guided to between a 1.5% decline and 0.5% growth for the December quarter. The case for the shares to lead the market depends on two delayed large contracts getting signed and lifting bookings in the December quarter. The mid-January 2027 report settles that.

The September-quarter report on 15 October 2026 was mixed. Margin improved and the US dollar revenue came in near expectations. Benzinga reported revenue of $2.583 billion against a $2.570 billion estimate, and earnings of $0.03 per American depositary receipt (ADR) against a $0.04 estimate. Bookings fell sharply. The shares closed at $2.15 on 21 October 2026, up 16.2% over three months, with a 14-day relative strength index (RSI) of 82, a reading that marks the shares as stretched.

The narrative is maturing: the AI-services turnaround story at Indian IT firms is well known, and the 15 October 2026 report delivered margin gains, not revenue growth. The AI enterprise software group Wipro trades with has also cooled from saturated in late September to maturing in October.

Bullish and bearish views on Wipro Limited

The bull case on Wipro Limited (WIT), in brief: Operating margin is moving up again. The bear case: Revenue has stopped growing.

Bull case

  • Operating margin is moving up again. IT services operating margin was 16.5% in the September 2026 quarter, up 0.5 percentage points from the June quarter, according to the company's 6-K filed with the SEC for the 15 October 2026 release.
  • Cash generation and buyback support per-share earnings. Operating cash flow was ₹5,305 crore in the September quarter, and earnings per share rose 4.2% year on year to ₹3.23, helped by a June 2026 share buyback, according to INDmoney's 16 October 2026 review of the results.
  • The local market reacted well to the results. Wipro's India-listed shares rose 4.72% intraday to ₹181.90 on 16 October 2026, and Nomura raised its target to ₹200, citing margin recovery, according to INDmoney.

Bear case

  • Revenue has stopped growing. IT services revenue was $2,611.5 million in the September 2026 quarter, flat sequentially and up 0.6% year on year in constant currency, according to the company's 6-K.
  • Guidance points flat to lower. The company guided December-quarter IT services revenue to $2,571 million to $2,625 million, a range of a 1.5% decline to 0.5% growth in constant currency, partly because of fewer working days and client holiday furloughs.
  • Most sell-side targets sit below the ADR price. JPMorgan cut the ADR to Sell with a $1.70 target on 24 June 2026, and Goldman Sachs kept a Sell with a $1.90 target on 26 June 2026, according to Investing.com's consensus page. In India, Citi's target of ₹145 after the October report sits well below the local share price.
  • US labor policy is turning against the sector. The US Labor Department barred Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant and others from the PERM green-card program on 7 October 2026, according to Staffing Industry Analysts. Wipro said it expects no material business impact and that more than 80% of its US workforce is hired locally.

Price setup

The ADR closed at $2.15 on 21 October 2026 in adjusted daily closes. That is 27.4% below the 52-week high of $2.96 and 16.2% above the close three months earlier. The 14-day RSI of 82 on the same date is well above the 70 level usually read as overbought, so the recent run leaves little room for disappointment.

Crowding shows up in price, not in ownership filings. No insider sales or share issuance were reported in the last 30 days. The ADR also trades above the June 2026 targets of the two US firms covering it most actively ($1.70 from JPMorgan, $1.90 from Goldman Sachs). A close below $1.90 would put the shares back under Goldman's target and erase much of the rally since July.

Catalysts, next 30 days

  • No scheduled company event through 21 November 2026. The next quarterly report falls outside the window.
  • Any time before 31 December 2026: signing of the two delayed large contracts. Management expects both in the December quarter. An announcement would partly reverse the 58.6% drop in large-deal bookings.
  • ~15 January 2027, est.: December-quarter (Q3 fiscal 2027) results. This report tests whether revenue lands inside the guided $2,571 million to $2,625 million and whether bookings recover.

What would change the view

The case for the shares improving would strengthen if the two delayed large contracts are announced and December-quarter bookings return above $3 billion. December-quarter revenue at the top of the guided range would add to that, showing that the margin gains are not coming at the expense of growth. Upgrades from JPMorgan or Goldman Sachs to targets above the current ADR price would also mark a shift in how the sell-side reads the business.

The cautious reading would be confirmed if revenue lands at or below the $2,571 million low end, if large-deal bookings stay near the September quarter's $674 million, or if US labor or visa policy moves from the PERM ban to restrictions on H-1B work visas that the company itself says are material. A daily close below $1.90 would show the post-results rally has failed.

What it trades with

Wipro's ADR trades with the Indian IT services group (Infosys, Cognizant, HCLTech, TCS) and with Accenture's results. Wipro's US shares rose with Cognizant and Infosys after Accenture beat estimates on 1 October 2026, and fell nearly 3% alongside Infosys on 8 October 2026 after the PERM ban, per Benzinga and NewsBytes. The ADR price also moves with the Indian rupee against the US dollar and with India's Nifty IT index, which rose 2.8% on the morning of 16 October 2026. The wider AI enterprise software group, with peers including ACN, IT and VEEV, cooled from saturated in late September to maturing by 22 October 2026. A cooling group raises the bar for a turnaround story built on bookings that have not yet shown up.

Notes

  • Wipro reports under IFRS in Indian rupees with a fiscal year ending 31 March; the December 2026 quarter is its Q3 fiscal 2027.
  • The NYSE-listed ADR moves with both the India-listed shares and the rupee-to-dollar exchange rate.
  • Founder Azim Premji and related entities control a large majority of Wipro's equity, which limits the public float.
