Above its line on the last close.
How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 19 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A daily close below $26, which would undo the October rally and return the shares to their post-September range; Q3 revenue at or below $229.0 million or net retention under 110% would also break the case.
Open pick Medium conviction, opened at $30.04. Kill line at open: $26.00 (daily close); graded by at the latest.

Braze's business is still growing faster than its share price assumes. Revenue rose 26.2% in the July quarter, net retention improved and full-year guidance went up. The shares fell 25.1% in the week of that report and have since recovered to a $30.04 close on 19 October 2026. The fiscal third-quarter report, expected around 8 December 2026, decides whether the recovery holds. It has to show revenue above guidance and net retention at 110% or better.
Braze sells software that brands use to message their customers across email, push notifications, SMS and WhatsApp. On 8 September 2026 it reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $227.2 million, up from $180.1 million a year earlier. The company raised its full-year revenue guide to $910–$913 million from $895–$899 million.
Since the 18 October 2026 note there has been no new company filing, guidance change or analyst target change. The only change is price: the shares have kept rising into a stretched short-term reading. The narrative is maturing: the AI-agent story has been widely covered since the 29 September 2026 Forge conference, and analyst notes since then have reiterated their targets without raising them.
Bullish and bearish views on Braze, Inc.
The bull case on Braze, Inc. (BRZE), in brief: Retention improved while the customer base grew. The bear case: Guidance implies little sequential growth.
Bull case
- Retention improved while the customer base grew. Dollar-based net retention was 110% for the twelve months to 31 July 2026, up from 108% a year earlier. For customers with at least $500,000 of annual recurring revenue (ARR) it was 112%, up from 111%.
- Large customers are taking a bigger share. Customers with ARR of $500,000 or more rose to 361 from 282 a year earlier, and they made up 65% of ARR, up from 62%. Total customers reached 2,789, up from 2,422, per the 8 September 2026 release.
- Cash flow has turned positive. Free cash flow was a record $21.7 million in the July quarter, according to the 8 September 2026 release. Full-year non-GAAP operating income guidance is $75.5–$76.5 million.
- New AI products and an AWS deal. On 29 September 2026 Braze signed a three-year strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that brings Amazon Bedrock into its AI agents. At Forge it launched AI products in beta, including Operator Connect, which links its BrazeAI Operator to Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot.
- Analyst targets sit above the last close. Cantor Fitzgerald kept a $38 target on 30 September 2026, BTIG $35 on 1 October 2026, Citizens $35 on 5 October 2026 and DA Davidson $40 around 7 October 2026.
Bear case
- Guidance implies little sequential growth. Third-quarter revenue guidance is $229.0–$230.0 million, against the $227.2 million just reported. The December report has to clear that range clearly to support a higher valuation.
- Gross margin is slipping. Non-GAAP gross margin fell to 68.6% in the July quarter from 69.3% a year earlier. Management tied the drop to heavier messaging volumes and more staff.
- Stock-based pay weighs on earnings. The Motley Fool's 12 September 2026 review of the selloff named heavy stock-based compensation and modest full-year adjusted EPS guidance of $0.64–$0.65 as reasons the beat did not hold.
- The shares are stretched after the rebound. The 14-day relative strength index (RSI, a momentum gauge where readings above 70 signal an overbought stock) stood at 79.7 on 19 October 2026. The shares rose 33.5% over three months to that date, which leaves less room for disappointment.
- AI revenue is still unproven. The Forge AI products are in beta. Analysts quoted after the September report cited AI revenue that is still early as a reason for caution.
Price setup
The last close was $30.04 on 19 October 2026 in adjusted daily closes. That is 17.0% below the 52-week high of $36.19. The shares closed at $28.46 on 7 October 2026, so the October advance has continued past that level.
The RSI of 79.7 is the main sign of crowding. The stock has gained 33.5% in three months, and the next earnings report is about seven weeks away, so there is no scheduled company event to test the move before December. Analyst targets of $35 to $40 sit above the last close, and the 52-week high of $36.19 is the next prior high on the chart.
A close below $26 would return the shares to the range they traded in after the September selloff and before the early-October rally. That would show the rebound has failed.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- 31 October 2026: The fiscal third quarter ends. This is the quarter the December report will cover.
- ~8 December 2026, est. (outside the 30-day window): Fiscal third-quarter 2027 results and updated full-year guidance. The case turns on this report: revenue against the $229.0–$230.0 million guide, net retention against 110%, and whether the $910–$913 million full-year guide rises again.
No company-specific event is scheduled within the next 30 days. Until December, the shares are likely to move with software stocks as a group.
Elapsed catalysts
- ~mid-November 2026, est.: Braze usually announces its earnings date a few weeks before the report. Last year's third-quarter results came out on 9 December 2025. (passed 315d ago)
What would change the view
Third-quarter revenue at or below $229.0 million, the low end of guidance, would break the case. So would trailing net retention falling back under 110%, or a full-year guide left at $910–$913 million in December. Each would show growth fading faster than the raised guidance implied.
A second warning sign would be non-GAAP gross margin below 68.6%, which would mean messaging costs are still squeezing profit. On price, a daily close below $26 would undo the October rally and end the thesis whatever happens in the business.
What it trades with
Braze trades with mid-cap software and the Nasdaq Composite. Its AI-application peers in the enterprise-software group include Shopify, PTC and Synopsys. That group has been cooling: it was rated maturing on 18 October 2026 and 19 October 2026 after a brief pick-up in heat in the week of 11 October 2026. A cooling group means Braze's rebound has to rest on its own results.
Software stocks often sell off together when interest-rate expectations rise or when a large peer cuts guidance. A broad software decline before December would probably drag on the shares whatever Braze's own trends show.
Notes
- Braze's fiscal year ends 31 January, so fiscal 2027 runs from February 2026 to January 2027.
- Braze has Class A and Class B common stock; the listed shares are Class A, and Class B shares carry greater voting rights.
- Third-quarter results usually include costs from the company's annual Forge customer conference, which weigh on that quarter's operating income.
