How to read this

The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 22 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.

Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.

Kill line

A daily close below $100, Wells Fargo's 21 October 2026 price target, which would undo most of the re-rating after the October report. A fourth-quarter report showing Magic: The Gathering revenue falling year over year, or a cut to the 7–9% 2026 revenue growth range, would also end the case.

The thesis

Hasbro's card-game business now drives the company's profit, and the 20 October 2026 beat-and-raise gives the shares fresh earnings momentum into the holiday quarter. Two things settle the case: whether holiday toy sales hold up, and whether Magic: The Gathering keeps growing in the fourth-quarter report expected in February 2027.

Third-quarter revenue was $1,595.3 million, up 15% year over year, according to the company's 20 October 2026 earnings release (8-K). Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming, the games segment, grew revenue 31% to $747.2 million at a 49.2% operating margin. Magic alone took in $616.1 million, up 34% and above $600 million in a quarter for the first time.

Management raised its full-year 2026 outlook. Revenue growth is now 7–9% in constant currency, up from 5–7%. The adjusted operating margin is now 27–28%, up from 25–26%. The company also doubled its 2026 share-repurchase target from at least $100 million to at least $200 million. The narrative is accelerating: the report brought new results, a higher outlook and same-week target increases from BNP Paribas and Wells Fargo on 21 October 2026. The crowding risk is the price itself. The shares closed at a 52-week high of $114.00 on 21 October 2026 with a 14-day relative strength index (RSI) of 90.5.

Bullish and bearish views on Hasbro, Inc.

The bull case on Hasbro, Inc. (HAS), in brief: Magic is a high-margin growth engine. The bear case: One-time tariff refunds flatter profit.

Bull case

  • Magic is a high-margin growth engine. Magic revenue reached $1,630.9 million in the first nine months of 2026, up 34%, according to the 20 October 2026 release. The quarter was led by The Hobbit and Reality Fracture sets.
  • The guidance raise was broad. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) guidance rose to $1.575–$1.625 billion from $1.45–$1.50 billion on 20 October 2026. Benzinga reported the new sales range of $5.030–$5.124 billion against a $5.058 billion consensus.
  • Cash generation has nearly doubled. Operating cash flow was $907.3 million for the first nine months, against $490.0 million a year earlier, per the 8-K. That funds the $0.70 quarterly dividend, the larger buyback and $226 million of debt reduction so far this year.
  • Inventory is lean into the holidays. Inventory was $358.9 million at quarter end on 27 September 2026, down from $396.7 million a year earlier. Lower stock on hand reduces the risk of holiday markdowns.
  • Analysts are moving targets up. BNP Paribas reiterated Outperform with a $127 target on 21 October 2026. Citigroup raised its target to $117 with a Buy rating on 13 October 2026, before the report.

Bear case

  • One-time tariff refunds flatter profit. About $55 million of tariff refunds sit inside third-quarter results, per the 8-K. That includes $48 million in Consumer Products, whose adjusted operating profit rose 100% to $177.7 million.
  • Toys are growing slowly. Consumer Products revenue rose only 4% to $827.9 million in the third quarter. Marvel, KPop Demon Hunters and Transformers led the segment.
  • Digital gaming is lagging. Digital and licensed gaming grew 3% in the quarter, and the company has taken a $56 million digital-games impairment so far in 2026. Monopoly Go! contributed $41 million of third-quarter revenue.
  • The profit pool is concentrated. Much of the upside rests on Magic set releases continuing to sell at record levels. A weaker release slate would hit the highest-margin line first.
  • Not every analyst follows the stock up. Wells Fargo kept an Equal-Weight rating on 21 October 2026 with a $100 target, below the $114.00 close that day.

Price setup

The shares closed at $114.00 on 21 October 2026 in adjusted daily closes. That close is also the 52-week high. The shares are up 29.4% over three months. The 14-day RSI of 90.5 is in extreme overbought territory, which means short-term gains have been unusually one-sided after the report.

Above the price, BNP Paribas's $127 target is the highest of the recent analyst marks. Below it, Citigroup's $117 target is already close to the price, and Wells Fargo's $100 target marks the lower end of the recent range. A close back under $100 would mean the market had rejected most of the re-rating that followed the 20 October 2026 report.

Catalysts, next 30 days

  • 18 November 2026: Record date for the $0.70 quarterly dividend, payable 2 December 2026, per the 20 October 2026 release. This is routine and does not test the case.
  • No earnings report falls in the next 30 days. The next read on the business comes from holiday retail data.
  • 27 November 2026 (Black Friday): The start of peak holiday toy sales. Sell-through here decides whether Consumer Products can deliver its share of the raised outlook.
  • ~17 February 2027, est.: Fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 report. It shows whether the 27–28% adjusted operating margin was delivered and what 2027 growth the company guides to.

What would change the view

The case breaks if Magic growth stalls. A fourth-quarter report showing Magic revenue down year over year, or 2027 guidance that implies a lower operating margin than 2026, would mean the games engine has peaked. Weak holiday sell-through that forces the company to cut the 7–9% revenue growth range would also break it.

On price, a daily close below $100 would undo much of the post-report re-rating and put the shares below Wells Fargo's target. Above that level, a pullback from an RSI reading of 90.5 alone does not break the business case.

What it trades with

Hasbro is grouped with consumer-discretionary peers including Mattel, Funko and VF Corp. That group's interest is maturing as of 22 October 2026 after shifting between accelerating and maturing since August. A cooling group raises the bar for a single-name case. Hasbro's Magic-driven profit makes it less sensitive to toy-shelf demand than Mattel or Funko, though all three share the same tariff and holiday-spending exposure.

Mattel faces separate deal pressure. Ariel Investments urged it to explore a sale amid reported $6 billion takeover talk, per Benzinga on 6 October 2026. Takeover headlines at Mattel can move Hasbro shares for reasons that have nothing to do with Hasbro's own results.

Notes

  • Hasbro's Q3 2026 results include about $55 million of one-time tariff refunds, which inflate year-over-year profit comparisons for that quarter.
  • Hasbro's fiscal quarters end on a weekend near the month-end; fiscal Q3 2026 ended on 27 September 2026.
