Kill line

A daily close below $8.07, the 13 October 2026 close before the refinancing news. Separately, a cut to the roughly $130.0M 2027 adjusted EBITDA outlook or 2026 adjusted EBITDA below $90.0M would break the operating case.

Open pick Medium conviction, opened at $9.70. Since then +6.9% against the S&P 500's −2.5% (+9.4 pp). Kill line at open: $8.07 (daily close); graded by at the latest. Conviction has since been cut below medium, so this pick closes at the next US close and is graded like any other.

The thesis

Westrock Coffee's shares look more likely to lag than lead the market over the next three months. The 5 November 2026 third-quarter report held the 2026 guide and introduced an outlook of about $130.0M for 2027 adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), but free cash flow was only $1.1M and leverage is set to rise. Customer allocations in early 2027 and the fourth-quarter report, estimated for March 2027, settle whether that outlook is real.

The business is improving. Third-quarter adjusted EBITDA rose 14.0% to $26.4M from $23.2M, the sixth straight quarter of year-over-year growth (company release, 5 November 2026). The price had moved first: the adjusted daily close of $10.37 on 5 November 2026, set before the report, stood above MarketBeat's $10 consensus target (4 November 2026).

The narrative is maturing: the refinancing and the free-cash-flow turn are well known, and Finviz showed the shares down 8.00% after hours on 5 November 2026 despite the new 2027 figure.

Bullish and bearish views on Westrock Coffee Company

The bull case on Westrock Coffee Company (WEST), in brief: A 2027 outlook of about $130.0M. The bear case: Free cash flow was barely positive.

Bull case

  • A 2027 outlook of about $130.0M. The company gave the preliminary figure on 5 November 2026 and reaffirmed $90.0M–$100.0M for 2026. CEO Scott Ford said on the call that new business of about $60M in annualized adjusted EBITDA is in place, with a pipeline above $100M (TradingKey transcript).
  • Nine-month earnings are well ahead. Adjusted EBITDA for the first nine months of 2026 was $73.7M against $46.7M a year earlier, and the net loss narrowed to $32.2M from $67.9M (company release, 5 November 2026).
  • Gross profit steadied in the third quarter. It was $41.5M against $41.4M a year earlier, after an 8.8% decline in the second quarter (company releases, 6 August 2026 and 5 November 2026). CFO Thomas Pledger said the $26.1M of tariff refunds that cut net sales had no gross profit effect (5 November 2026 call).
  • The Conway plant has room to fill. Ford said on 5 November 2026 that Conway runs at about 40% of current capacity and that committed programs take it to roughly 85% over 18 months. He said Conway alone would then generate more adjusted EBITDA than the company's $70M total for 2025.
  • Capital spending stays low. Third-quarter capital expenditures were $8.8M against $18.1M a year earlier (5 November 2026 release). Pledger guided to about $30M for 2026 and $30M–$35M for 2027, down from $89M in 2025.
  • The debt maturity sits in 2031. The $600.0M Beverage Solutions facility closed on 21 October 2026 and matures in October 2031. Secured net leverage was 3.07x on 30 September 2026, on $286.1M of secured net debt (5 November 2026 release), down from 4.6x a year earlier (5 November 2026 call).

Bear case

  • Free cash flow was barely positive. Pledger put third-quarter free cash flow at $1.1M on $9.9M of operating cash flow, after $20.2M in the second quarter (World Coffee Portal). He said part of the two-quarter total came from working-capital timing that management expects to reverse. Two quarters are too small a sample to support a conclusion on durability.
  • Leverage rises before it falls. Pledger expects about 0.5 turn more leverage in the fourth quarter and another 0.25–0.5 turn in the first quarter of 2027, tied to incentive payments and tariff refund pass-throughs. He expects deleveraging to resume in the second quarter of 2027.
  • The 2026 guide was not raised. Ford placed 2026 "squarely in the middle" of the range on 5 November 2026. An Earnings Whispers preview on 28 October 2026 had read management as intending to clear the range comfortably. A result in the middle would need a fourth quarter below the third quarter's $26.4M.
  • Sales and per-share results missed. Net sales fell 15.4% to $300.2M, and the loss was $0.10 per share against a $0.07 estimate (5 November 2026 news headline). That headline put the sales estimate at $303.925M, while GuruFocus cited about $310M. Pledger said sales excluding the refunds were about $326M.
  • The 2027 figure is still preliminary. Ford called it "plus or minus" $130M and said customer allocations are not final until deep in the first quarter of 2027. Several programs launch in mid-to-late 2027, and contracted single-serve business has replaced about one-third of the volume lost last year (5 November 2026 call).
  • Other claims rank ahead of the common shares. On 30 September 2026 the balance sheet carried $273.2M of Series A convertible preferred shares, a $99.9M supply chain finance program and a $34.9M shareholders' deficit (5 November 2026 release). The October repurchase of $40.0M of 2029 notes also issued about 2.4M new shares.

Price setup

The adjusted daily close was $10.37 on 5 November 2026, the 52-week closing high. That compares with $9.78 on 26 October 2026 and $8.07 on 13 October 2026, the close before the refinancing news. MarketBeat recorded an intraday one-year high of $10.57 on 5 November 2026.

The $10.37 close predates the report, so it carries none of the reaction. Finviz showed an 8.00% after-hours decline that evening, and Chartmill reported the shares falling on the revenue miss. The 6 November 2026 session is the first regular-hours test.

Crowding signs are visible. The shares rose 27.1% over three months, and the 14-day relative strength index (RSI) was 77.7 on 5 November 2026. Earnings Whispers put the 200-day moving average at $6.82 on 28 October 2026, with the shares at $9.67 and sentiment readings more than doubled since the prior report.

The tradeable float is thin, at 36.07M shares against 97.63M outstanding on 1 September 2026. Director Joe T. Ford made six open-market purchases in 2026 totalling 134,500 shares, the latest at $8.04 on 1 June 2026, and MarketBeat's Form 4 listing showed no 2026 insider sales as of 1 October 2026.

MarketBeat's average rating was hold on 4 November 2026. Telsey's target is $11.00 (19 August 2026) and Stifel's is $9.00 (7 August 2026), both set before the report.

Catalysts, next 30 days

  • ~9 November 2026, est.: third-quarter 10-Q filing. It shows the share count after the October issuance and the terms of the new credit agreement. No other company event is scheduled in the next 30 days.
  • ~9 March 2027, est.: fourth-quarter 2026 report. The company gave its 2026 guidance on 10 March 2026 last year. The report shows whether 2026 landed inside $90.0M–$100.0M, what happened to free cash flow as working capital reversed, and how firm the 2027 figure has become.

What would change the view

The operating case breaks if management cuts the 2027 outlook of about $130.0M, or if 2026 adjusted EBITDA comes in below $90.0M. It also breaks if leverage rises by more than Pledger's guided amounts, or if deleveraging has not resumed by the second-quarter 2027 report. On price, a daily close below $8.07, the 13 October 2026 close before the refinancing news, would erase the entire move since then.

The view that the shares lag would be wrong if fourth-quarter free cash flow stayed positive despite the expected working-capital reversal, or if finalized customer allocations led management to raise the 2027 figure. Analyst targets moving clearly above the $10 consensus after the report would also weaken that view.

What it trades with

The shares have moved on company events in 2026. The rise from $8.07 on 13 October 2026 to $9.78 on 26 October 2026 spanned the refinancing, and the reported after-hours fall on 5 November 2026 followed results.

Green coffee and tariffs affect reported sales more than profit, according to management. Lower green coffee prices and $26.1M of tariff refunds cut third-quarter net sales while gross profit was flat, so the sales line can mislead when these inputs move.

Notes

  • The company is still loss-making under generally accepted accounting principles: the Q3 2026 net loss was $10.0M, or $(0.10) per share. The equity story rests on adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow.
  • Thin float: 36.07M tradeable shares against 97.63M outstanding (1 September 2026). Vendors use different float figures, so short-interest percentages vary by source.
  • Convertible notes: $30.0M of 5% notes due 2031 convert at $5.25. The remaining $32.0M of notes now mature in January 2032 and convert at $12.84.
  • Series A convertible preferred shares of $273.2M (30 September 2026) rank ahead of the common shares.
  • Results come out after the close with the call that evening, so the first price reaction happens outside regular trading hours.
  • Green coffee is largely a pass-through cost per management: falling bean prices cut reported net sales while gross profit dollars hold.
