How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on the last session; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A daily close below $11.00, the level of BofA's Underperform price target. A Biohaven filing disclosing termination or reduced terms of the SK licence, or an FDA hold extended to dosing of randomized patients, would also end the case.
Not a pickResearch coverage at low conviction. A medium-or-higher call would open a pick on the scoreboard.

Biohaven Ltd. has $430 million of licence cash contracted from SK Biopharmaceuticals and Ono Pharma, but the shares closed at $11.75 on 21 October 2026 and the case stays unconfirmed until the SK payment closes and the RISE3 epilepsy study reads out. The 26 August 2026 SK licence pays $350 million at closing, and a Biohaven announcement that closing has occurred would be the clearest sign that the funding premise holds.
Searches of company releases and news through 22 October 2026 found no announcement of SK closing, no US antitrust clearance date and no RISE3 topline result. The narrative is maturing: both licence deals are public, and the shares have drifted from $11.93 on 8 October 2026 to $11.75 on 21 October 2026. The next dated event is the BHV-1530 oncology presentation at the ESMO Congress on 23 October 2026.
Bullish and bearish views on Biohaven Ltd.
The bull case on Biohaven Ltd. (BHVN), in brief: Two outside partners now back the degraders and the epilepsy drug. The bear case: The regulatory hold is unresolved.
Bull case
- Two outside partners now back the degraders and the epilepsy drug. Ono licensed Biohaven's extracellular immunoglobulin G (IgG) degraders for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the ASEAN countries for $80 million upfront, a $20 million milestone expected within a year and royalties of about 20% (company release, 8 October 2026). SK holds the opakalim licence announced 26 August 2026.
- Contracted cash is large against the last reported balance. Biohaven held about $270.5 million in cash, equivalents, marketable securities and restricted cash at 30 June 2026 (Q2 results, 10 August 2026). The SK agreement adds $350 million at closing and $50 million one year after closing, and the Ono deal adds $80 million.
- The enrolled epilepsy study can still read out. The Form 8-K signed 9 September 2026 says dosing of already randomized patients continues and second-half 2026 topline guidance for RISE3 stands. RISE3 completed enrolment on 30 June 2026 (Benzinga).
- The oncology data update arrives within days. Biohaven presents abstract 1019P on BHV-1530, a fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) antibody-drug conjugate, at ESMO in Madrid on 23 October 2026 at 15:15 (company release). The company has reported confirmed partial responses in heavily pretreated patients and no dose-limiting toxicities at earlier disclosures.
Bear case
- The regulatory hold is unresolved. The FDA partial clinical hold dated 4 September 2026 paused new opakalim enrolment over insufficient information on the human risk of a rodent metabolite (Form 8-K signed 9 September 2026). An extension to dosing of randomized patients would hit the lead epilepsy asset directly.
- The SK payment is still contingent. Closing requires clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust act, and the 9 September 2026 8-K said the parties were still preparing the submission. No closing announcement has been located as of 22 October 2026.
- Analyst scepticism predates the deals. On 29 June 2026 BofA Securities cut Biohaven to Underperform with an $11 price target, citing a risky profile ahead of key epilepsy data (Benzinga).
- The shares remain in a downtrend. The $11.75 close on 21 October 2026 sits 35.1% below the 52-week high of $18.11, the three-month price change is -17.9% and the 14-day relative strength index is 36.2 (adjusted daily closes). The close is 75 cents above BofA's target.
Price setup
The shares closed at $11.75 on 21 October 2026, against $11.93 on 8 October 2026 and $12.99 on 25 September 2026 (adjusted daily closes). The 52-week high is $18.11. The shares trade well below that high, so no wide gap above a rising moving average exists.
BofA's $11 target is the nearest published reference below the market. A daily close under $11.00 would put the shares under that target and under the lows of this decline.
Crowding evidence is limited. No insider sales or share issuance appear in recent company news, and the third-quarter report, estimated for about 10 November 2026, is the nearest earnings date. The oncology presentation on 23 October 2026 and the third-quarter report both fall before any RISE3 date has been announced.

What would change the view
The case breaks if the SK licence fails to close or closes on reduced terms, if the FDA hold extends to dosing of randomized patients, or if RISE3 misses its primary endpoint. A daily close below $11.00, the level of BofA's Underperform price target, would also end it. Evidence that would strengthen the case is a closing announcement for the $350 million, a lifted or narrowed FDA hold, or a positive RISE3 topline.
What it trades with
Biohaven trades on binary clinical and regulatory events, so its moves track trial and licence news more than the broad biotech index. Mid-cap clinical-stage biotech peers with pending readouts share sensitivity to funding conditions and to FDA safety actions. The oncology programme adds a second, separate source of news from the epilepsy and immunology assets.
Notes
- Biohaven is clinical-stage with no approved-product revenue; outcomes depend on trial results, regulatory decisions and licence payments.
- The 26 August 2026 SK Biopharmaceuticals licence needs antitrust clearance; its $350 million at-closing payment is contractual until receipt is reported.
- The FDA partial clinical hold dated 4 September 2026 paused new opakalim enrolment while allowing dosing of already randomized patients.
