Above its line on the last close.

How to read this

The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 21 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.

Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.

Kill line

A daily close below $3.50, a round level beneath the 21 October 2026 close of $3.87. A delay of the Boeing-unit acquisition beyond 2026 would also break the case.

Not a pickResearch coverage at low conviction. A medium-or-higher call would open a pick on the scoreboard.

The thesis

Archer Aviation's pending purchase of Boeing's Insitu, Wisk Aero and SkyGrid units would add a profitable defense business to a developer with almost no revenue, but the shares closed at $3.87 on 21 October 2026, 66.1% below the 52-week high of $11.41 (adjusted daily closes). The third-quarter report, expected around 6 November 2026, and completion of the deal by the end of 2026 settle whether the case recovers.

The narrative is dead as a price-recovery story: the shares have fallen from a $4.72 close on 8 October 2026 to $3.87 even though Barclays upgraded the stock on 9 October 2026 and Archer announced piloted air-taxi flights over San Francisco Bay on 19 October 2026. The 14-day relative strength index, a 0-to-100 momentum gauge where readings under 30 are conventionally called oversold, was 23.4 on 21 October 2026. The shares fell 18.9% over the three months to that date.

The acquisition itself has not changed. The U.S. antitrust waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act expired on 18 September 2026, per Archer's 24 September 2026 press release. Other closing conditions remain, and management targets completion by 31 December 2026.

Bullish and bearish views on Archer Aviation Inc.

The bull case on Archer Aviation Inc. (ACHR), in brief: Antitrust hurdle is cleared. The bear case: The price keeps breaking lower.

Bull case

  • Antitrust hurdle is cleared. Archer said the Hart-Scott-Rodino waiting period expired on 18 September 2026. Management's end-2026 closing target was unchanged in its 24 September 2026 update.
  • Insitu would add reported revenue. Archer's 10 August 2026 announcement described Insitu as profitable with over $200 million of annual revenue. Archer reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $5.0 million, so closing would change its reported scale.
  • An analyst moved to a positive rating. Barclays upgraded Archer to Overweight from Equal-Weight on 9 October 2026 and raised its price target to $8 from $4.50, per Benzinga. Cantor Fitzgerald reiterated Overweight with an $11 target on 11 August 2026.
  • Flight testing continues. Archer announced on 19 October 2026 that it completed piloted electric air-taxi flights over San Francisco Bay, per the company's release.
  • Momentum is deeply oversold. The 14-day relative strength index was 23.4 on 21 October 2026, against 34.1 on 8 October 2026.

Bear case

  • The price keeps breaking lower. The close was $5.61 on 25 September 2026, $4.72 on 8 October 2026 and $3.87 on 21 October 2026 (adjusted daily closes). Positive news on 9 October 2026 and 19 October 2026 did not stop the decline.
  • Spending far exceeds revenue. Archer's 10 August 2026 results showed second-quarter revenue of $5.0 million and an adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (adjusted EBITDA) of $177.1 million. It guided the third-quarter adjusted EBITDA loss to $170 million–$200 million.
  • Share issuance dilutes holders. The all-stock consideration equals about 19.75% of Archer's pre-closing Class A shares, plus two warrants of $100 million each, per the 10 August 2026 filing.
  • Litigation is widening. Vertical Aerospace filed a patent-infringement counterclaim in East Texas federal court on 7 October 2026. In the Joby trade-secret case, a court dismissed Archer's counterclaims with leave to amend, per Archer's 2 October 2026 statement.
  • The deal is not yet closed. Conditions beyond U.S. antitrust clearance remain open. A slip past 31 December 2026 would break management's stated timetable.

Price setup

The last adjusted daily close was $3.87 on 21 October 2026. That is 66.1% below the 52-week high of $11.41. The stock closed at $5.61 on 25 September 2026 and $4.72 on 8 October 2026, so each recent reference point sits below the one before it.

No recovery level has formed above the price. The 11 September 2026 weekly close of $5.58 failed as a recovery point, and the 8 October 2026 close of $4.72 now sits above the current price. Barclays' $8 target and Cantor's $11 target are both far above the close. Those targets are the firms' views, not market prices.

Crowding evidence is thin on the buying side. No insider selling or new share offering is reported in company news since 8 October 2026. The visible pressure is the planned issuance of about 19.75% of the pre-closing share count and an earnings report expected around 6 November 2026.

Catalysts, next 30 days

  • ~6 November 2026, est.: third-quarter 2026 results. A financial calendar lists the report and call for 6 November 2026. Archer has not confirmed the date in the company news reviewed. The report shows whether the adjusted EBITDA loss stays within the $170 million–$200 million guidance and updates the closing timetable.
  • 31 December 2026, management target: Boeing-unit closing. This falls outside the next 30 days, but completion decides whether Insitu's stated revenue of over $200 million enters Archer's results.

What would change the view

The case breaks if the Boeing-unit acquisition slips beyond 2026, if the third-quarter adjusted EBITDA loss exceeds the $200 million top of guidance, or if a court issues an injunction in the Joby or Vertical cases. A daily close below $3.50 would extend the decline and end the thesis.

The case strengthens if the third-quarter report confirms spending within guidance and management reaffirms closing by 31 December 2026. A close back above the $4.72 level of 8 October 2026 would show the decline has reversed.

What it trades with

Archer trades with other pre-revenue electric aircraft developers, including Joby Aviation and Vertical Aerospace, both of which are in active patent or trade-secret litigation with Archer. The Boeing transaction links the shares to Boeing's decisions on its Insitu, Wisk Aero and SkyGrid units. Boeing shares fell alongside Archer on 12 August 2026, per Benzinga. The defense revenue stream would tie results to U.S. drone and defense procurement, including the 100% tariff on defense-related drones over 55 kg that the White House announced in August 2026, per Benzinga.

Notes

  • The all-stock Boeing transaction would issue Archer Class A shares equal to about 19.75% of the pre-closing share count, so per-share figures before and after closing are not directly comparable.
  • Insitu's stated annual revenue of over $200 million enters Archer's reported results only if the acquisition announced on 10 August 2026 closes.
  • Archer is in active patent and trade-secret litigation with Joby Aviation and Vertical Aerospace.
