How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on the last session; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A daily close below $7, a round level under the $7.92 close of 28 October 2026. A slip of Malaysian A102 or A201 energization past Q1 2027, or a third straight quarter of negative gross margin at the Q3 report, would also break the case.
Not a pickResearch coverage at low conviction. A medium-or-higher call would open a pick on the scoreboard.

Bitdeer Technologies Group has turned its owned power into $2.9 billion of contracted artificial-intelligence (AI) cloud backlog, but the shares closed at $7.92 on 28 October 2026 and the revenue from the new Malaysian sites starts only in 2027. The third-quarter report (~10 November 2026, est.) settles whether gross margin turns positive and whether financing stays manageable.
The close of $7.92 is 67.2% below the 52-week high of $24.11 and 24.7% lower than three months earlier. It is also below the $8.39 close of 15 October 2026 in the previous note. The 14-day relative strength index (RSI), a momentum gauge where readings under 30 mean heavy selling, stood at 31.6 on 28 October 2026.
The narrative is maturing: the contract story is well known, and the company's 19 October 2026 September update added backlog and bitcoin output without lifting the shares above the mid-October level. Delivery on schedule in Q1 2027 would support the case. A close below $7 would break it.
Bullish and bearish views on Bitdeer Technologies Group
The bull case on Bitdeer Technologies Group (BTDR), in brief: Backlog is large against current revenue. The bear case: Contract news has the price.
Bull case
- Backlog is large against current revenue. The September 2026 update, released 19 October 2026, put AI Cloud backlog at about $2.9 billion, up from about $0.9 billion in August. Customers committed to more than 70% of the 21.7MW A201 site in Johor, worth more than $1.7 billion over five years (Bitdeer 6-K, 19 October 2026).
- Utilization of the existing GPU fleet improved. GPU (graphics processing unit) utilization rose to 95% in September from 92% in August, with 4,328 GPUs deployed (Bitdeer September update, 19 October 2026). Annual recurring revenue (ARR) held at about $86 million.
- Bitcoin mining output is rising. September production was 1,355 bitcoin, up 200% year over year, and self-mining hash rate reached 82.3 exahashes per second against 35.0 a year earlier (Bitdeer, 19 October 2026). Mining cash flow helps fund the AI build.
- Capacity pipeline keeps widening. The company reported data services agreements for 67MW at A901, with full delivery planned for Q2 2027, and 60MW at A103 for Q1 2028 (Bitdeer, 19 October 2026). It also bought about 200 acres near its 563MW Rockdale, Texas site.
- Analysts still carry high targets. Barclays maintained Overweight and raised its target to $17 from $15 in October (reported 20 October 2026). H.C. Wainwright reiterated Buy with a $25 target on 2 October 2026.
- A buyback is authorised. The $100M program announced 8 October 2026 runs through 7 October 2028.
Bear case
- Contract news has the price. The shares closed at $12.38 on 4 September 2026 and at $7.92 on 28 October 2026, through four contract announcements between 14 September 2026 and 12 October 2026 and the 19 October 2026 update.
- ARR did not move. AI Cloud ARR stayed at about $86 million between August and September (Bitdeer, 19 October 2026). The backlog jump comes from signed commitments, and none of it is yet billing.
- Gross margin was negative in Q2. Revenue was $228.8 million against cost of revenue of $237.3 million, a gross loss of $8.5 million, and the net loss was $92.3 million (Q2 results, 10 August 2026).
- The company raised $457 million of at-the-market equity in Q2 and filed a $1 billion securities registration, so further issuance needs no new filing.
- Macro shocks hit the group hard. After September consumer prices rose 3.7% year over year against 3.6% expected, TeraWulf, Core Scientific, Cipher Mining and IREN fell 12.2% to 12.6% on 14 October 2026, and bitcoin dipped below $82,000 (cryptonews.net, 15 October 2026).
- Revenue arrives in 2027 and later. A201 full deployment is targeted for April 2027 and A103 for Q1 2028 (Bitdeer, 19 October 2026). The financing has to carry the company through that gap.
Price setup
The shares closed at $7.92 on 28 October 2026, the reference close for the $7 invalidation level. The 52-week high is $24.11. The $10 level that earlier coverage watched has been broken, and the shares now trade below the 15 October 2026 close of $8.39.
The RSI of 31.6 sits just above the oversold line. There is no wide gap above a rising moving average to point to crowding. The pressure comes from the opposite side: continued equity issuance capacity, a CEO who held roughly a quarter of the 243.31M shares outstanding as of 7 August 2026 (which narrows the tradable float), and an earnings date near. Company news on 28 October 2026 announced the third-quarter earnings conference call.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- ~10 November 2026 (est.): Q3 2026 results. The company announced its call on 28 October 2026. The date here follows last year's 10 November 2025 timing and is unconfirmed. The report shows gross margin, financing for the Malaysian GPUs, and any buyback or at-the-market activity.
- ~17 November 2026 (est.): October production and operations update. It shows whether ARR moves above $86 million and whether utilization holds at 95%.
- 31 December 2026: Tydal Phase 1 delivery target under the Volta lease. This is the first point at which any of the $4.7 billion of contracted Tydal revenue can start to be recognised.
- ~31 March 2027 (est.): A102 and A201 energization per company guidance for Q1 2027. It converts the commitments from backlog into revenue.
What would change the view
A daily close below $7 would end the case, as would an A201 or A102 energization date moving past Q1 2027. A third straight quarter of negative gross margin at the Q3 report would also break it. New at-the-market sales into a falling price, or GPU purchase terminations, would weaken the funding side.
The case improves if Q3 shows positive gross profit, if ARR rises above $86 million in the October update, or if financing for the Malaysian build is announced on terms that do not dilute shareholders further.
What it trades with
Bitdeer trades with listed bitcoin miners that have pivoted to AI hosting. TeraWulf, Core Scientific, Cipher Mining and IREN fell 12.2% to 12.6% together on 14 October 2026 on a hot inflation print and rising rate-hike odds (cryptonews.net, 15 October 2026). Bitcoin's price drives the mining side of the business. Rates drive the cost of the debt-funded data center builds. The Federal Reserve met on 27 October 2026 and 28 October 2026.
Notes
- Singapore-domiciled Nasdaq issuer: results arrive as 6-K press-release exhibits rather than a 10-Q, so there is no interim balance sheet between quarterly reports.
- GAAP loss coexists with positive adjusted EBITDA: Q2 2026 net loss was $92.3M against adjusted EBITDA of $31.1M on $228.8M of revenue.
- CEO Jihan Wu held roughly a quarter of the 243.31M shares outstanding as of 7 August 2026, which limits the tradable float.
- A $1B securities registration was filed with the Q2 report and $457M of at-the-market equity was issued in Q2, so further issuance can happen without a new filing.
- A $100M share repurchase program, announced 8 October 2026, runs through 7 October 2028 and sits alongside $1.8B of borrowings at 30 June 2026.
