How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on the last session; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A daily close below $12.50, under the mid-October trough close of $14.00 and the slide that followed the 24 September 2026 CLN-978 delay. A CRS or neurotoxicity problem, or no durability signal in the December CLN-978 data, would also break the case.
Last pick Medium conviction, to : −16.3% against the S&P 500's +2.0%. Trailed the S&P 500 · closed through its kill line.

Cullinan Therapeutics closed at $15.56 on 28 October 2026, 32.2% below its $22.95 52-week high, and the December autoimmune data plus completion of the first-line zipalertinib filing settle whether the slide that followed the 24 September 2026 data delay was a pause or a break. The shares have recovered from the $14.00 close of 15 October 2026 as new company news and analyst support arrived.
The narrative is maturing: the REZILIENT3 lung-cancer results have been public since 13 September 2026, and the news since the last note adds scope rather than a new readout. On 19 October 2026 Cullinan and Taiho Oncology announced results from Cohort C of the Phase 2 REZILIENT2 trial of zipalertinib. On 27 October 2026 the company announced FDA and Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration clearance to start a global Phase 1b/2a trial of velinotamig, its autoimmune antibody candidate.
BTIG reiterated Buy with a $40 target on 19 October 2026 and raised the target to $41 on 28 October 2026, per company-news headlines. The balance sheet is not the issue: Cullinan reported $356.0 million in cash, equivalents and investments at 30 June 2026, with runway guided into 2029 (Q2 2026 corporate update, 6 August 2026). The open question is whether the December CLN-978 data and the first-line filing support targets far above the share price.
Bullish and bearish views on Cullinan Therapeutics, Inc.
The bull case on Cullinan Therapeutics, Inc. (CGEM), in brief: First-line filing is under way. The bear case: Severe side effects rose.
Bull case
- First-line filing is under way. On 1 October 2026 Cullinan began a rolling New Drug Application to the FDA for zipalertinib plus chemotherapy in first-line EGFR exon 20 insertion lung cancer, under the Real-Time Oncology Review program. The company expects the submission to be complete by year-end 2026 (Form 8-K, 1 October 2026).
- Phase 3 efficacy was clear. The 13 September 2026 REZILIENT3 release reported median progression-free survival of 14.5 months with zipalertinib plus chemotherapy versus 8.5 months with chemotherapy alone, a hazard ratio of 0.50 (95% confidence interval 0.34–0.73).
- The autoimmune pipeline is widening. The 27 October 2026 company announcement said the FDA and the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration cleared a global Phase 1b/2a trial of velinotamig in adults. A velinotamig multi-dose lupus poster is scheduled for ACR Convergence on 8 November 2026.
- CLN-049 started a registrational study early. On 8 October 2026 Cullinan reported the first patient dosed in a potentially registrational Phase 2 study in relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia, with a Phase 1 update expected in December 2026.
- Analyst targets sit far above the price. BTIG raised its target to $41 on 28 October 2026. HC Wainwright reiterated Buy with a $35 target on 2 October 2026, and Bullstory listed a consensus target of $33.45 from 11 analysts (range $23 to $42) on 1 October 2026.
Bear case
- Severe side effects rose. The 13 September 2026 release reported grade 3 or higher adverse events in 87.1% of combination patients versus 54.4% on chemotherapy alone. The sponsors described the excess as mainly manageable blood-related events.
- Survival is unresolved. At 30% event maturity, the overall-survival hazard ratio was 0.72 with a 95% confidence interval of 0.42–1.23 (13 September 2026 release). The interval includes no benefit.
- The autoimmune update slipped once. On 24 September 2026 Cullinan moved CLN-978 multi-dose data in rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Sjögren's disease to December. It had guided to the third quarter for rheumatoid arthritis on 6 August 2026. The shares closed down 8.54% that day, per StockTitan.
- Milestones cluster at year-end. The December CLN-978 data, the CLN-049 Phase 1 update and completion of the first-line filing all fall in the same window. A miss on any one would land together with the others.
- Equity raising is possible. Cullinan has no product revenue, and its 30 June 2026 cash of $356.0 million was reported before a Q2 net loss of $53.7 million recurs again. A share sale priced around the December data would dilute holders.
Price setup
The adjusted daily close was $15.56 on 28 October 2026, against $14.00 on 15 October 2026 and $15.51 on 2 October 2026. The 14-day relative strength index was 50.7 on 28 October 2026, up from 43.5 on 15 October 2026. The three-month price change was -5.7%.
The 52-week range runs from $5.68 to $22.95. The shares sit 32.2% below the high and well above the low. The $12.50 level in the invalidation condition is the area below the mid-October trough close of $14.00.
Crowding evidence is limited. No SEC filings or insider transactions appear for the period since the last note. The nearest crowding risks are the third-quarter report expected around 5 November 2026 and sell-side targets that sit well above the price.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- 8 November 2026: velinotamig multi-dose lupus poster, ACR Convergence 2026. First autoimmune data point since the CLN-978 delay.
- 31 December 2026 (later, year-end window): CLN-978 multi-dose data, CLN-049 Phase 1 update and first-line NDA completion. These decide whether repeat dosing extends single-dose remissions and whether the first-line filing is on schedule.
- 27 February 2027 (later): FDA action date for second-line zipalertinib. The first approval clock; it triggers a $30 million payment to Cullinan on US approval.
Elapsed catalysts
- ~5 November 2026 (est.): third-quarter 2026 results. Updates cash against $356.0 million at 30 June 2026 and shows whether the milestone schedule is holding. Last year's third-quarter report came on 6 November 2025. (passed 1d ago)
What would change the view
The case breaks if the shares close below $12.50 or if the December CLN-978 package shows B-cell depletion without durable disease control, or adds cytokine release syndrome or neurotoxicity events. Reported relapse within follow-up, or grade 2 or higher cytokine release syndrome or neurotoxicity in multi-dose cohorts, would confirm that.
A first-line NDA completion that slips past year-end 2026, or an FDA request for more overall-survival maturity, would weaken the zipalertinib half of the case. A December readout pushed into 2027 would mark a second guidance slip. An at-the-market prospectus supplement or follow-on offering priced around the readout would show financing taking priority over data.
What it trades with
Cullinan trades with small and mid-cap clinical-stage biotechnology shares, so sector sentiment and rate moves can drive sessions with no company news. Its lung-cancer value depends on its partner Taiho Oncology and on competing EGFR exon 20 insertion treatments such as amivantamab-plus-chemotherapy. Its autoimmune value links to other T-cell engager programs in lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, where any class-wide safety signal would reach the shares.
Notes
- Zipalertinib is co-developed with Taiho Oncology; Cullinan does not control first-line submission timing or commercialization decisions alone.
- Pre-revenue: no approved product sales. The 27 February 2027 FDA action date for second-line zipalertinib is the first approval clock.
- CLN-978 and CLN-049 milestones are guided by period (month or quarter), and guidance has already slipped once, from Q3 to December 2026 for rheumatoid arthritis data.
- The 52-week range spans $5.68 to $22.95. Single-headline sessions have moved the shares by double digits, and quarterly reports bring an earnings blackout window.
