How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 9 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A weekly close below $12.00, a round-number level under the 8 October 2026 close of $12.85 that would mark a failed September rally; several more weeks of net outflows from US spot Solana funds would confirm the break.
Not a pickResearch coverage at low conviction. A medium-or-higher call would open a pick on the scoreboard.

How picks are graded →The thesis
Fidelity Solana Fund is more likely to lag the S&P 500 than lead it over the next three months. Weekly fund-flow tallies and the timing of Solana's Alpenglow upgrade on its main network decide whether that changes.
The fund closed at $12.85 on 8 October 2026, down from $14.25 on 6 October 2026, 23.8% below its $16.86 52-week high and still up 46.5% over three months, according to adjusted daily closes. It holds SOL and pays out net staking rewards in cash. The shares follow the token, less a 0.25% annual fee and a 15% cut of staking rewards (Fidelity crypto-fund disclosures).
The narrative is maturing: the story is well known and buying has reversed since US spot Solana funds recorded outflows of $9.24 million on 5 October 2026, $3.69 million on 6 October 2026 and $4.8 million on 7 October 2026, according to crypto.news on 8 October 2026. TokenPost put October outflows above $22 million the same day, with 2 October 2026 the only inflow day of the month at $1.30 million.
Bullish and bearish views on Fidelity Solana Fund
The bull case on Fidelity Solana Fund (FSOL), in brief: September flows were the second-best month. The bear case: Outflows now span three straight sessions.
Bull case
- September flows were the second-best month. US spot Solana funds took in about $272 million in September 2026, $480 million in the third quarter and $842 million year to date, according to 24/7 Wall St. on 3 October 2026.
- Fidelity leads the group on cumulative inflows. FSOL had drawn $234 million in cumulative inflows against $170 million for Grayscale's fund and $21.16 million for VanEck's, according to TokenPost in early October 2026.
- Network use is rising. Daily active addresses on Solana rose 58% to about 4.27 million and stablecoin supply on the network exceeds $15 billion, according to TokenPost on 8 October 2026.
- Banks are settling payments on Solana. Fiserv launched a platform for Roughrider Coin, the Bank of North Dakota's dollar-backed stablecoin, processed on Solana and open to more than 90 North Dakota banks, according to cryptonews.net on 2 October 2026.
- Fund assets grew through token weakness. Net assets rose from $97.4 million on 31 March 2026 to $127.1 million on 30 June 2026 while SOL fell 9.60% in the quarter, according to the June 2026 Form 10-Q, which attributes the growth to more shares outstanding.
Bear case
- Outflows now span three straight sessions. The group lost about $17.73 million from 5 October to 7 October 2026, according to crypto.news. FSOL itself saw $2.1 million in withdrawals on 5 October 2026, according to TokenPost.
- SOL broke its $116 support. SOL traded at $112.28 on 8 October 2026 after an intraday range of $111.21 to $116.81, according to crypto.news, which cited analyst downside levels of $110 and $106. TokenPost reported a fall from $113 to $107 in four hours that day, an 8.35% 24-hour loss.
- Leverage was flushed in a risk-off market. TokenPost tied the 8 October 2026 drop to higher Treasury yields and sector-wide derivatives liquidations, with $5.84 million of long positions liquidated across Binance, Bybit and OKX in one hour.
- Alpenglow still has no mainnet date. The upgrade remained pending mainnet activation on Anza's validator schedule, with Agave 4.3.0 tied to it and the mainnet minimum version at 4.2.2, according to crypto.news on 29 September 2026. Agave 4.3 had no confirmed release date as of 5 October 2026.
Price setup
FSOL's 14-day relative strength index (RSI), a momentum gauge, fell to 43.0 on 8 October 2026 from 77.7 on 6 October 2026. The overbought reading flagged in the prior note has fully unwound in two sessions. The 8 October 2026 close of $12.85 sits 23.8% below the $16.86 52-week high.
For the token, crypto.news on 8 October 2026 placed immediate resistance at $113, a 4-hour chart midpoint at $118.16 and the late-September trading range at $120 to $125, where it also located liquidation clusters. Support sits at the daily Supertrend level of $107.22, then the analyst levels of $110 and $106. SOL's 200-day moving average stood at $86.16 on 5 October 2026, according to Blockonomi, so the longer trend from the June low near $60 remains intact.
A weekly FSOL close below $12.00 would put the shares under a round-number level that held through the September rally. A move back toward the late-September range would need SOL to reclaim $116 first.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- ~17 October 2026 (est.): Weekly tally for the week ending 16 October 2026. A return to inflows near September's pace would be the first evidence against the lagging read.
- October 2026, no fixed date: Alpenglow activation on Solana mainnet through Agave 4.3. Software release, validator adoption and a scheduled feature-gate switch must all happen first.
- ~16 November 2026 (est.): FSOL quarterly report for the period ended 30 September 2026, showing net assets, shares outstanding and staking rewards for the third quarter.
Elapsed catalysts
- ~10 October 2026 (est.): Weekly flow tally for US spot Solana funds for 5 October to 9 October 2026. With three outflow days already reported, a negative week is likely; the size of any 8 October 2026 and 9 October 2026 flows sets the tone. (passed 2d ago)
What would change the view
The lagging read breaks if buying returns. Two consecutive weekly tallies showing US spot Solana fund inflows near September's roughly $272 million monthly pace would show the October outflows were a pause. A clean Alpenglow activation on mainnet within October, followed by SOL reclaiming $116 and then the $120 to $125 range, would add a dated network catalyst to that flow evidence.
In the other direction, a weekly close below $12.00 would show the September rally has failed. Several more weeks of net outflows, SOL closing below the $106 to $107 support zone, or an Alpenglow slip past October would confirm that.
What it trades with
FSOL tracks SOL almost one for one, less fees, so it moves with the other US spot Solana funds from Grayscale, VanEck, Bitwise and Invesco Galaxy, which together tracked $1.86 billion in assets on 8 October 2026, according to crypto.news. SOL trades with the wider crypto market, and TokenPost linked the 8 October 2026 decline to rising Treasury yields and sector-wide liquidations. That makes the fund sensitive to bond yields and crypto leverage as well as to Solana's own news. It reports no operating earnings, so its catalysts are flows, protocol upgrades and token price.
Notes
- The fund holds a single asset, SOL, so its price follows that token and it reports no operating earnings.
- Staking distributions are paid in cash, are not guaranteed, and may be modified, suspended or ended by the sponsor.
- Costs are a 0.25% annual sponsor fee plus a staking fee of 15% of staking rewards, per Fidelity's published schedule.
- The fund files 10-K and 10-Q reports with the SEC; quarterly figures arrive up to 45 days after each quarter ends.
