Against its published line
Above its line on the last close.
How to read this
The red mark is the published kill line — the price that would prove the thesis wrong. The dot is where the name closed on 15 October 2026; a dot left of the mark has closed through its line.
Distance is drawn on a square-root scale, so close calls get the room. Past 8% a row reads well clear, with a hollow dot to show the figure is off the drawn scale. Rows run tightest first.
Kill line
A weekly close below $25, just under the company's $25.04 average buyback price and the 15 October 2026 close of $25.75. Q3 2026 Ziihera royalties at or below Q2's $1.8 million would also reject the sequential-growth case.
Open pick Medium conviction, opened at $28.99. Since then −0.9% against the S&P 500's −2.5% (+1.7 pp). Kill line at open: $25.00 (weekly close); graded by at the latest.

How picks are graded →The thesis
Zymeworks' Ziihera royalties should beat Q2's $1.8 million, because Jazz Pharmaceuticals reported on 2 November 2026 that Ziihera sales rose to $20.6 million in Q3. The 9 November 2026 report settles that test and shows whether 2026 guidance changes after the Roche licence. The case breaks on a weekly close below $25.
Jazz's report is the main change since the 29 October 2026 note. Its Q3 Ziihera sales compare with $8.3 million a year earlier, and earnings coverage puts the Q2 figure at $15.4 million. Zymeworks' contractual royalties run from 10% to 20% of Jazz's net sales, per its 25 August 2026 filing. That sales rise makes a sequential royalty gain the likely result, and a Q3 royalty at or below $1.8 million would prove the view wrong.
The royalty line now looks like the easier question, so guidance carries more of the weight on 9 November 2026. The company's range, set on 28 September 2026, is total revenue of $278 million to $292 million and adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) of $114 million to $128 million. Both predate the 23 October 2026 Roche agreement.
The narrative is accelerating: the Roche licence, the ZW191 results on 24 October 2026 and Jazz's launch figures on 2 November 2026 all arrived within two weeks. The shares closed at $28.73 on 5 November 2026, slightly below the $28.90 close on 28 October 2026, so Jazz's numbers have not lifted the price so far.
Bullish and bearish views on Zymeworks Inc.
The bull case on Zymeworks Inc. (ZYME), in brief: First-line launch began with strong demand. The bear case: Revenue guidance sits below consensus.
Bull case
- First-line launch began with strong demand. Jazz's 2 November 2026 release reports about 40% more demand vials per selling day in the first full month after the 25 August 2026 approval. New ordering accounts tripled, and 80% of them were community-based.
- Final survival results support first-line use. Jazz's 2 November 2026 release cites a final HERIZON-GEA-01 overall-survival hazard ratio of 0.65 for Ziihera plus tislelizumab and chemotherapy, with a median of 27 months. It also says National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines list Ziihera with chemotherapy, with or without tislelizumab, as a preferred first-line regimen.
- Pipeline now earns outside money. Roche agreed on 22 October 2026 to pay $55 million upfront and $40 million when a Phase 1b trial starts, with up to $718 million of further milestones. Royalties run from high-single-digit to mid-teen percentages (Zymeworks 8-K).
- ZW191 results are strong for an early trial. The company reported a 64.5% confirmed objective response rate at 6.4 mg/kg in high-grade serous ovarian cancer patients on 24 October 2026 at the European Society for Medical Oncology congress. Phase 1 groups are small, so later trials have to confirm it.
- YUPELRI adds a second recurring stream. The 28 September 2026 release gives Zymeworks a 35% share of net U.S. YUPELRI profits plus ex-U.S. royalties.
- Analyst targets sit above the price. Truist's target is $35 (28 October 2026), Citigroup's $39 (29 September 2026), JPMorgan's $33 (3 September 2026) and Wells Fargo's $40 (7 August 2026). Benzinga showed a $39.54 consensus target on 26 October 2026.
Bear case
- Revenue guidance sits below consensus. The top of the $278 million to $292 million range is below the $302.577 million consensus estimate that Benzinga cited on 28 September 2026.
- Royalties remain small today. Ziihera royalty revenue was $1.8 million in Q2 2026, against $6.6 million of Q2 interest expense on the Royalty Pharma note.
- Launch evidence covers one month. Jazz's demand and account figures describe the first full month after approval, and the $20.6 million of Q3 sales includes weeks before it. Repeat ordering shows up only in later quarters.
- Lenders stand ahead of shareholders. Non-recourse notes of $250 million (Royalty Pharma, on the Ziihera royalty) and $350 million (OMERS Life Sciences, on YUPELRI cash flows) claim those streams first. The company withdrew cash-runway guidance on 6 August 2026.
- Roche money depends on clearance. The 8-K makes the licence effective the first business day after clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust law, with the $55 million due after that. Company releases found through 6 November 2026 do not report clearance.
Price setup
The shares closed at $28.73 on 5 November 2026, 7.5% below the 52-week high of $31.05 and up 18.9% over three months in adjusted daily closes. The 14-day relative strength index was 70.3, a level usually read as stretched.
The observable crowding evidence is that stretched reading and an earnings date two sessions away. The report comes without a conference call or webcast, per the company's 15 October 2026 release, so the first reaction rests on the press release and the 10-Q.
The nearest reference levels below the price are the 15 October 2026 close of $25.75 and the company's $25.04 average buyback price. A weekly close below $25 would sit under both.
Catalysts, next 30 days
- 9 November 2026, after the close: Q3 2026 results. The Roche approval milestone timing helps the reading: the 25 August 2026 approval falls in Q3, so the $250 million Jazz milestone should dominate reported revenue. The royalty line carries the recurring signal. Theravance Biopharma closed on 28 September 2026, so Q4 is the first full quarter of YUPELRI.
- 10 November to 12 November 2026: Fireside chats at Wolfe Research, Stifel and Truist in New York, per the 15 October 2026 release.
- 17 November 2026: Jefferies conference in London.
- ~30 November 2026, est.: Antitrust clearance for the Roche agreement, which triggers the $55 million payment. The company has not confirmed this date.
What would change the view
Q3 Ziihera royalties at or below $1.8 million would break the sequential-growth case, since Jazz's reported sales rose. A cut to the $278 million to $292 million revenue range or the $114 million to $128 million adjusted EBITDA range would weaken it, especially with Roche money still to come.
A delay in Roche clearance beyond the fourth quarter, a clinical hold on ZW191 or ZW209, or a sequential fall in Jazz's Ziihera sales at its next report would also count against the case. On price, a weekly close below $25 ends the thesis.
What it trades with
Zymeworks' royalty line follows Jazz's reported Ziihera sales, so Jazz's quarterly reports give an early reading before Zymeworks publishes, as the 2 November 2026 report did. Roche clearance and the OMERS Life Sciences note tie other parts of the case to company-specific events. These drivers differ from broad market moves, which is why the 9 November 2026 report matters more to the next three months than any index reading.
Notes
- Zymeworks books milestones and royalties on Ziihera, while Jazz commercialises it outside Asia-Pacific and BeOne Medicines within it.
- Cash-runway guidance was withdrawn at the 6 August 2026 Q2 report; the company frames disclosure around operating metrics and adjusted EBITDA.
- Two non-recourse notes sit ahead of shareholders: $250M from Royalty Pharma (Ziihera royalty) and $350M from OMERS Life Sciences (YUPELRI cash flows).
- Reported revenue is lumpy because milestones drive it; consensus misses like the 6 August 2026 one can recur in quarters without a milestone.
- The company said on 15 October 2026 that it holds no conference call or webcast for Q3 results, so the press release and 10-Q are the primary sources.
